Bilt’s Home Away From Home, explained

Home Away From Home is Bilt’s entry in the curated-luxury-hotel race, its answer to Amex Fine Hotels + Resorts and Chase’s Edit. Launched in July 2025 and built on Virtuoso, the luxury travel network, it lists more than 1,700 hotels worldwide. Two things make it the odd one out among the programs on this site: you book at bilt.com rather than a card issuer’s travel portal, and access is gated by Bilt member status, not by which credit card you hold.

The package

Stays come with the familiar set: daily breakfast for two, up to a $100 property credit per stay, and a room upgrade with early check-in and late checkout when available. There’s no program-wide minimum stay for the package. It applies to a single night, which is why HAFH prices on this site are shown per night.

Who gets access

Gold and Platinum Bilt members have full access, whatever Bilt card they hold, or none. Since March 2026, Blue and Silver members can unlock one Home Away From Home booking per month for $95 in Bilt Cash.

Bilt Cash can also be spent on the stays themselves: Blue and Silver members can apply up to $50 a month toward a booking, Gold and Platinum up to $100, though that redemption requires a two-night stay. It’s a separate rule from the stay package, which has no minimum. I mention it because a search engine’s answer box once told me the whole program needed two nights, and it doesn’t; only the Bilt Cash redemption does.

The card credits

Bilt’s 2026 card lineup adds hotel credits that work across Bilt Travel, Home Away From Home included: the Obsidian card ($95 annual fee) carries $100 a year, and the Palladium card ($495) carries $400 a year.

The Virtuoso fingerprint

Because the list is built on Virtuoso rather than on an issuer’s negotiated deals, it looks different from the Chase and Amex lists. In the late-August 2026 data it had 2,074 hotels across 106 countries, and only 434 of them, 21%, were in the United States. That makes it the most international list here by a wide margin; The Edit is 39% American and Citi’s Reserve 36%. Italy alone had 191 HAFH hotels, France 126, the UK 85, China 77.

The brand mix gives the game away. The biggest single group was Leading Hotels of the World with 193 properties, then InterContinental at 122, Relais & Châteaux at 115, Preferred at 96 and Small Luxury Hotels at 88. Those are the labels a Virtuoso agent sells. Marriott and Hyatt, which top the Chase lists, are further down. If you like independent hotels and European country houses, this is the list that has them.

It overlaps most with Amex: 812 HAFH hotels were also in FHR. Then 594 with Renowned, 509 with The Edit, 359 with Capital One’s Premier Collection and 148 with Leading Hotels’ own list.

What it costs

The median all-in nightly rate across the HAFH list was about $620, and the median cheapest upcoming night about $422. Two hundred and seven hotels had a night under $200 available somewhere in the coming year, and 525 under $300. At the bottom in late August: the Hotel Indigo in Torquay at $72 for a February night, the InterContinental Kuala Lumpur at $76 in March, the St. Nicolas Bay Resort in Crete at $79 for December. At the top, 186 hotels had nothing under $1,000 a night. New York was the most expensive city on any list here, with a median around $1,182 a night across 34 HAFH hotels, against $780 in London and $350 in Shanghai.

One pattern worth knowing before you plan a winter trip: the HAFH list shows more sold-out or unlisted nights in December and January than the Chase lists do, about 18% of nights against 15%. That is the seasonal-closure effect of a European resort-heavy list, not a data problem, and the price calendar on each hotel shows it as blank days.
