The Reserve by Citi Travel, and the Strata Elite’s $300 credit

The Reserve is Citi Travel’s curated luxury shelf, the newest of the issuer programs and still the smallest list. It’s visible to holders of the Citi Strata Elite, the Strata Premier, and the legacy Prestige, and it books through Citi Travel the way The Edit books through Chase.

The package

Reserve stays carry the standard curated-program set: daily breakfast for two, a $100 experience credit that varies by property, free Wi-Fi, and a room upgrade with early check-in and late checkout when available.

The $300 credit

The reason to care sits on the Strata Elite: a $300 hotel credit each calendar year for prepaid Citi Travel stays of two nights or more. It’s applied at booking, so the price drops before you pay, with no waiting on a statement credit. And it splits across bookings: a $200 stay leaves $100 for the next one. The year is keyed to when you book, not when you stay. The Strata Elite also earns 12X points on hotels paid through Citi Travel.

That “applied at booking” detail is the thing I’d point at if someone asked what makes this program different. Chase and Amex both make you pay the full prepaid amount and return the credit afterward. Citi takes it off the bill. On a cheap stay that changes the feel of the transaction entirely: the median cheapest two-night Reserve stay in the late-August 2026 data was about $888 all-in, and $300 off that at checkout is a third of the price gone before the perks.

The two-night condition is why Reserve prices on this site are shown as two-night totals, same as The Edit. A one-night headline would show you stays that could never trigger the credit.

What the list looks like

It held 865 hotels in late August, of which 802 had prices. About 315 were in the United States, 36% of the list, with Italy next at 88, then France, the UK and Spain. The cities with the most Reserve hotels were New York (35), London (26), Paris (24), Rome (15), Washington (14) and Las Vegas (13). Marriott brands accounted for 111 hotels, Accor 55, IHG 47 and Belmond 18.

Much of it is the Chase lists re-sold under Citi’s label: 452 Reserve hotels were also in Renowned and 409 in The Edit, with 348 in FHR and 332 in Bilt’s HAFH. If you have a Strata Elite and a Sapphire Reserve, the same hotel probably shows on both tabs, and the difference between the programs is the credits, not the hotels.

Where the $300 goes furthest

On the cheapest Reserve stays the credit covers most of the bill. The bottom of the list in late August: SO/ Uptown Dubai at about $198 for two nights at the end of August, the Radisson on Gran Vía in Bilbao at $216 in January, Taj Dubai at $216, ME Dubai at $244, the Radisson Blu Resort in Split at $252 for December, the Almanac X Alcron in Prague at $287 for February, the Imperial Hotel Osaka at $293 in December. In Las Vegas, the MGM Grand and Park MGM were both around $305 for two nights in late September, resort fees included.

Those are the stays where $300 off at booking is nearly the whole price, and where breakfast for two and the $100 experience credit are worth more than the room. City by city, the median all-in nightly rate on the Reserve list was about $1,024 in New York, $932 in Paris, $846 in Rome, $660 in London, $544 in Washington and $407 in Las Vegas.

The Reserve list also shows the sharpest winter dip of any list here. Relative to each hotel’s own typical price, January nights ran about 7% below and November and December about 6% below, while September ran 7% above. If you can put the two-night stay in the first quarter, the credit and the season both work for you.
