Where The Edit’s 1,400 hotels actually are

Chase describes The Edit as “about 1,400 hotels,” and in the August 28, 2026 snapshot the list here held 1,415, of which 1,316 had a price. That is a list you can read as a whole, so I did: where the hotels are, who runs them, and what a night costs in the cities with enough of them to say.

Countries

Ninety-two countries, but the list is American first: 549 hotels in the United States, 39% of the whole. Then Italy with 95, Mexico 63, Spain 59, the United Kingdom 57, France 53, Greece 36, Japan 31, Thailand 29, Canada 27, Portugal 26 and Switzerland 20. Everything else is under twenty. For comparison, the Amex list is 31% American and has 113 hotels in China and 94 in Japan; if your travel is East Asia, The Edit is the thinner list by a wide margin.

States and cities

Inside the US the spread is what the luxury-hotel map of America looks like. California leads with 109 Edit hotels, then Florida 72, New York 62, Colorado 33, Texas 28, Hawaii 24, Massachusetts 20, Arizona 19, the District of Columbia 19 and Georgia 18. Colorado at 33 is the surprise on that list until you remember Aspen and Vail.

By city, New York had 45 Edit hotels, London 37, Paris 27, Washington 17, Tokyo 16, Miami Beach 15, Dubai 15, Barcelona 14, Rome 14, Chicago 13, then Singapore, Las Vegas, Boston and Madrid at 12 each and Amsterdam at 11. Those fifteen cities hold about a fifth of the list. The other four-fifths are one or two hotels in a place, which is the part of the list the map is for.

Who runs them

Marriott brands account for 217 Edit hotels, more than any other group, which mostly means Ritz-Carlton, St. Regis, Luxury Collection, Edition and W. Four Seasons is next with 126, which is most of Four Seasons. IHG has 125, largely InterContinental, Kimpton, Regent and Six Senses, and IHG is one of the seven brands in Chase’s 2026 $250 credit, which is why the tagged hotels skew that way. Hyatt has 76, Accor 68 (Fairmont, Sofitel, Raffles), Belmond 24, Relais & Châteaux 15, and MGM Resorts, Minor Hotels, Rocco Forte and Omni about a dozen each. Five hundred and five hotels carry no big-group brand at all.

On class, 1,046 of the 1,415 are five-star properties, 161 are rated four and a half, and 197 are four-star. The list also includes 323 hotels holding at least one Michelin Key, the guide’s hotel rating introduced in 2024, which is a higher share than any other program here.

What a night costs, by city

All-in median nightly rates, over roughly a year of priced nights, for the Edit cities with at least ten hotels. Milan was the dearest at about $1,663 across ten hotels. Then Rome $1,121, Paris $1,005, New York $977, Tokyo $897, Miami Beach $772, Boston $762, London $747, Dubai $700, Chicago $608, Madrid $602, Washington $569, Mexico City $537, Amsterdam $526, Singapore $488, Barcelona $470, Las Vegas $424 and Atlanta $363.

A few things in that list are worth a second look. London at $747 is cheaper than Paris by a quarter and cheaper than New York, and London has no city tax on top while New York adds 14.75%, so the sticker gap is smaller than the all-in gap. Barcelona and Madrid at under $600 are the cheap way into a European Edit stay. Las Vegas at $424 includes resort fees, which the hotels’ own rates don’t. And Milan at $1,663 is ten hotels of the Bulgari, Four Seasons and Mandarin Oriental kind, not a city where The Edit has a cheap end.

The cheap end of the list

Because The Edit is a two-night program the figures here are two-night totals. In late August, 82 Edit hotels had a night under $200 somewhere in the coming year and 313 had one under $300, against 142 with nothing under $1,000. The cheapest two-night stays in the snapshot were the Hotel Indigo Auckland at about $197, SO/ Uptown Dubai at $198, the Cordis Auckland at $201 for April 2027, the Radisson Collection Bilbao at $216 in January, Taj Dubai at $216, the Radisson Blu Resort in Split at $252 for December, Hotel Kansas City at $263 for early January, and One&Only Kéa Island in Greece at $266 for late September. The median cheapest two-night stay across the list was about $903.

Two nights at any of those, prepaid through Chase Travel on a Sapphire Reserve, returns $250 and adds breakfast for two and $100 to spend. At the bottom of the list the credit is the price.

About the numbers

Every figure is from the snapshot the site published on August 28, 2026, and every price is an all-in open-market estimate, with taxes and fees added, not Chase Travel’s rate. City medians are the median of hotel medians for the city, so each hotel counts once. Counts by brand use the group name the issuer’s list carries, so a Ritz-Carlton counts as Marriott and a Kimpton as IHG.
